Nine races are on the docket tonight at Queensland’s harness HQ, where race fans will have to be patient to see one of the most exciting pacers in the state at present.
Chynchilla will contest race nine, the Garrards Horse and Hound Mares Open Pace, where she will be looking to make it four wins on the bounce.
Winning her past two in 1.51.6 and 1.51.2 with margins of 14 metres and 16 metres respectively, the wide gate looks to be little concern for the four-year-old that has quickly stamped her name as the best mare in the Sunshine State.
With Grant Dixon not driving at The Creek, Adam Sanderson will look to get his night off to a flyer by partnering with the talented four-year-old Aroda.
Unplaced in two runs back from a spell, the Redcliffe Cup winning pacer backs up from Tuesday where he was a victim of the tempo in a small field and comes up with the outside second line in a capacity field over the 2138m trip.
“’It’s a good drive to pick up, definitely looking forward to it,” Sanderson said.
“Obviously we know how good he is on his night, with a little bit of luck, he is definitely going to be in it.”
Sanderson will also take the reins on talented square-gaiter and dual track record holder, Is That A Bid.
The Shannon Price trained seven-year-old resumes from a freshen but was given a solid work out over the latter stages in a recent trial.
“We only wanted a last 600 from him and that’s what he did.
“Hopefully with that trial, he has got the winning confidence back.
“Come Saturday he should be tip-top and on face value he is definitely the one to beat,” Sanderson said.
BEST BETS
Chris Barsby- R8 N3 SHARDS MATRIX: “He was terrific first up last week off a freshen up. He did all the work outside the speed where the leader just proved too good, but they went fast time. He will strip fitter, the distance suits and he is ready to win.”
Darren Clayton- R2 N1 MASTER CHARLES: “The Peter Greig trained five-year-old has been a winner in three of his past five starts and last week was not far from the winner where he tackled the 2138 metre trip. A return to the sprint trip from gate one looks ideal.
