Blacksadance Ready To Rumble

Nine races are set down for decision this Saturday night, where the track record holder, Blacksadance, will be chasing career win 27.

The 1.50 mile barrier has been bettered just three times under race conditions, with Blacksadance the quickest to ever get around the Breakfast Creek oval with his 1.49.2 mile set in September 2022.

Last start, the Chantal Turpin trained seven-year-old was huge in defeat when sitting parked outside Jimartee, the leader dictating to claim the third sub-50 mile at The Creek.

Blacksadance never shirked the task and held on for second place and will line up this week in a marginally easier assessed race- against Band 2-4 company.

The Turpin stable have a strong hand in the race, with three stablemates of Blacksadance also engaged.

Matt Elkins will take the drive aboard Mr Mclaren in barrier one, Always Smokin (5) will be partnered by Narissa McMullen and Angus Garrard will be aboard Betterthanarocket (6).

Drawn in the middle of the Turpin runners, the Jack Butler trained, and Chloe Butler driven Targaryen will start from barrier three.

It has been a frustrating season for Targaryen, claiming just one win in 2024, yet his performances have been superb at every appearance, constantly producing sizzling sectionals that have somehow not translated to race day success.

Chloe Butler is hopeful that with Blacksadance drawn to bully his way to the front, a genuine tempo should be generated.

“Hopefully they generate a lot of speed, that will suit us down to the ground and we can finish strong,” Chloe said.

With four drives on the night, there are three races where the Butler stable will be hoping to overhaul the metropolitan premiership leading barn of Chantal Turpin.

In the opening race, Alta Magacian is likely to run as the favourite for the Turpin/McMullen duo, with the Butlers again hoping for some tempo and luck with their runner, Dangerzone which draws poorly in gate seven.

“We’ve never really had luck with draws with him ever,” Butler said of the five-year-old which returned to their stable with a first up second.

“He definitely exceeded expectations there, we did not expect that, especially with the sloppy track.

“Everything’s super with him, we couldn’t be happier with him at home.

“Chantals one will the one to beat if everything goes his way.”

Dangerzone

Love Gun will be third up for the Butlers in the trot race which is race four, where he starts from inside on the 10-metre line where he will follow out Global Flight from inside the front tape.

Global Flight will be first up for Turpin/McMullen, off the back of a tidy trial, while Love Gun has been brought along steadily since arriving in Queensland.

“His first two, we have been super happy,” Chloe said of his two starts for their stable thus far.

“We have babied him a little bit.

“We’ve got a lot of time for him, and we are still working him out a little bit, but he is definitely going to be one of the better ones in our stable.”

After a first up error, the gelding was then luckless second up but was strong to the line when finishing under 3-metres from the winner.

“He was super, just had no luck at all.

“He steps really well and his is clean gaited, his first up start was a driver error.”

The last race on the program is one of the more intriguing contests, with seven two-year-olds to do battle.

Undefeated in two starts at Redcliffe, this race will prove a great guide to the ability that Path To Greatness possesses, as the Dixon trained gelding tackles a field that includes Thetorque Majority and Arrive- the second placed finishers from each division of last week’s Group 1 Triad Finals.

Path To Greatness is being slated for a potential New South Wales Breeders Challenge campaign, while Arrive and Thetorque Majority were both super in their respective Group 1 performances last week.

Race one is scheduled for 5.39pm, with race 10 at 10.17pm

BEST BETS

Chris Barsby- R2 N10 ROCK OF DELIGHT: “This horse is low-flying, sectionally really good of late. With a little bit of luck, he can certainly play a hand in the finish. I like the way he is going, and this looks a suitable race and should be good each-way value.”

Darren Clayton- R4 N7 LOVE GUN: “Following two runs since arriving in Queensland, the conditions look right for the winning account to be opened. An error proved costly first up, yet there was still plenty to like about the performance and second up not much was in his favour. The Love Gun has bullets to fire.”
